On Sunday, the 14th of July, our Marketing Director - Ciayi Lim organised the Pen Buddies session at Little Castle EduCare Centre, in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia, shared the idea of the Pen Buddies Programme with a selective group of 12 who aged from 7 - 11 years old.
Throughout the session, children got to understand about our programme - how we teach, share and connect children from all around the world through letter-writing, also learnt that effective communication is crucial for mutual understanding and harmonious living. They have presented their understanding of making pen friends through letter writing by drawing a logo for the Pen Buddies programme. All 12 drawings will enter the Global Pen Buddies Logo Competition, and the winners will be announced during London Fashion Week in September.
All of them do not have any friends beyond their school or community and they are excited about the idea of making friends from another side of the world through letter writing. 'Pen Friend' is a new term for the children here. They were asking if this session can be a weekly or monthly event where they can learn more about different cultures and improve their English speaking and writing skills. We hope to get more public support and funding to make the kids' dreams come true.
The top finalists from our Pen Buddies Logo Competition will be transformed into a T-shirt and showcased by a group of kids models during London Fashion Week Off Schedule show. The founder of House of iKons will be one of our key panel of judges during the finalist show. All children will have the opportunity to order the T-shirt with their logo too!
